How to Choose a Clock Repair Shop
Ask these questions before you hand over a clock that cannot be replaced.
Ask what "overhaul" includes
A real overhaul means full disassembly and cleaning. "Cleaned in place" or spray-cleaned movements are not serviced movements, and the difference shows in two years.
Ask about parts and documentation
Will original parts be returned to you? Are replacements documented? Reputable shops say yes without hesitation.
Ask about the test run and warranty
A movement should run on test for one to two weeks before it goes home, and the work should carry a written warranty. Ours is one year on labor.
Ask who does the work

When to call a clockmaker
If a clock has stopped, is losing more than a few minutes a week, sounds wrong when it strikes, or has been stored and not run, stop experimenting and have it inspected. Forcing a dry movement is the most expensive mistake a clock owner can make. We are at (214) 779-9792.
